There is an answer to these problems. In our office we offer four different treatments for esthetic issues like these. They are:
BOTOX and XEOMIN INJECTIONS—work by relaxing hyperactive muscles of the face. When the muscles relax, the result is a reduction in wrinkles and unwanted lines: giving a smoother, rested and more youthful appearance. The full effect takes two-to-14 days. Treatments last three-to-six months, on average.
DERMAL FILLER INJECTIONS—replace volume lost through the normal aging process, smoothing out lines and creases. Dermal Fillers also provide fullness in areas that need plumping, like lips. The effect is both immediate and intermediate, becoming more noticeable as the filler attracts and holds moisture in the tissues where we administer fillers. Treatments last six-to-12 months, on average.
SMOOTH DERMAL THREADS—first introduced decades ago in Europe and previously used exclusively by movie stars and the wealthy, this service is now available to everyone. Smooth Dermal Threads are literally what they sound like: resorbable threads that are placed under the skin. They work by providing a framework that encourages the production of the body’s own collagen in sites where collagen has been lost due to the normal aging process.
The effect is to tighten and firm creased or loose skin and give a smoother, more youthful appearance. We require three separate treatments, one month apart, to achieve maximum results. This is one of the longer-term services, lasting 18-to-24 months, generally.
LIFTING THREADS—these do what nothing else can do: they lift sagging skin. They provide a framework for new collagen production which replaces the collagen lost during the normal aging process. This treatment is sometimes called “the lunch time facelift,” since it does not require general anesthesia or time off from work. However, this is a significant procedure requiring the use of local anesthetics.
The Lifting Threads are introduced via a cannula under the skin and are activated in place when the cannula is removed. This procedure routinely produces bruising, along with occasional twinges (“zings”) during certain facial movements for two-to-four weeks. Lifting Threads tighten and firm, so patients know the treatment is working when they experience a feeling of tightness in the treated area.
To help with post-op discomfort, we recommend over-the-counter analgesics such as Tylenol, Motrin, or Ibuprofen for the first two-week period. Lifting Threads are another longer-term treatment: lasting 18-to-24 months, on average.
